The National Design Guide was published today by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government. It illustrates how well-designed places that are beautiful, enduring and successful can be achieved in practice. So naturally Alnwick is featured.
See page 20: Pottergate: “Flats are used to turn the corner of this urban block. Stepped bay windows and a large chimney stack to create a positive and interesting facade treatment on a prominent corner“.
The design guide is for:
- local authority planning officers, who prepare local planning policy and guidance and assess the quality of planning applications;
- councillors, who make planning decisions;
- applicants and their design teams, who prepare applications for planning permission;
- people in local communities and their representatives.
