Historic England has an ongoing programme of identifying sites which are in need of work in order to safeguard them for the future. There are three such sites in the Alnwick and Denwick area.
- Bondgate Tower. In the 2019 list it is identified as in “immediate risk of further rapid deterioration or loss of fabric; no solution agreed”
- General Lambert’s House. In the 2019 list, it is identified as in “Immediate risk of further rapid deterioration or loss of fabric; solution agreed but not yet implemented”
- Heiferlaw defended settlement and Second World War Zero Station. In the 2019 list it is identified as “generally unsatisfactory with major localised problems”
The Civic Society also seeks to identify other concerns with heritage sites within Alnwick and Denwick and work with owners and stakeholders to promote solutions. If you have any concerns, please report them using the form below.
