Historic England has an ongoing programme of identifying sites which are in need of work in order to safeguard them for the future. There are three such sites in the Alnwick and Denwick area.
- Bondgate Tower. In the 2020 list it is identified as in “immediate risk of further rapid deterioration or loss of fabric; no solution agreed”
- General Lambert’s House. In the 2020 list, it is identified as in “repair scheme in progress and (where applicable) end use or user identified; or functionally redundant buildings with new use agreed but not yet implemented.”
- Heiferlaw defended settlement and Second World War Zero Station. In the 2020 list it is identified as “generally unsatisfactory with major localised problems”
