This Shopfront Design Guide replaced the Design Guide for Shop Fronts which was adopted by Alnwick District Council in 1995. It was produced by Northumberland County Council in partnership with Alnwick Civic Society.
The updated Desigh Guide is in line with national and local planning policies and provides guidance and advice to developers and to the local planning authority in considering and determining relevant planning and listed building applications. In cases where planning permission is not required, the Council encourages adherence to the design principles set out in this guide.
